On the Hunt

There are so many things great about this card. It filters monsters from the encounter deck and redirects them to your mob handler. It spawns aloof enemies engaged with you, severely nerfing their revelation effeft. It saves the Guardian from drawing a bad card during mythos.

And finally, the upgraded version gives you an off global emergency cache when you kill whatever got stuck with it. Or, if you can't find an enemy, it gives you a pass on the encounter deck.

Use it, abuse it, don't look back.

Edit: Some folks say that forcing you to draw aloof enemies is a bad thing, but I couldn't disagree more. Even though aloof enemies won't be damaging you, they will be hindering you in other ways, especially in the newer scenarios. Generating doom, making objectives harder, etc. Clearing them out is a nice benefit. Even the older cards (wizard of the order, acolyte), forcing them to spawn engaged with you dramatically reduces their game effect.

Mandatory monster handling card imo.

Occult Scraps

This weakness basically reads...

-Discard an Asset you control. For one round you get -1 willpower. -On the next round, discard occult scraps and play an asset for -1 resource cost.

It's a unique weakness that can actually be helpful in some circumstances. If you have a fully tapped spell, this is a way to clear it. Coupled with showmanship, you can possibly have a super turn on your next turn.

Alchemical Transmutation

Consider these synergies:

  • Dragon Pole - needs to fill arcane slots cheap, and this does that
  • Arcane Initiate - wants to find spells like this
  • Torrent of Power - wants to burn charges for , and this has the highest charge-to-cost ratio at 0xp, tied with Scrying
  • Ever Vigilant cuts the total cost of this card considerably (zero tempo to play in a batch, zero supply, still costs a draw)

Oh yeah, you could also click it for supplies, I guess.

In short, I think there's a Lily Chen deck here.

Lily is SO much better with the Hammer, it feels bad to build around her at 0xp to fulfil the dragon pole. I like building Lily at 0xp to be an encounter fiend with Alyssa Graham, (1) Scrying, and Prepared for the Worst. The synergies you've posted aren't great for Lily, I think? — fiatluxia · 68
I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll report back. — MrWeasely · 42
I ended up taking Prophetic, as my In the Thick of It buy. Prophetic pays for Alchemical Transmutation, then Alchemical Transmutation gets boosted by Prophetic and pays for Prophetic. Or Ever Vigilant pays for both, and then Prophetic pays for Azure Flame. There's strange things afoot. — MrWeasely · 42
Game 1 it didn't see play. Game 2 both copies hit the table, cranking a Dragon Pole up to up by +2 fight and +1 damage, powered two different Torrent of Powers on other investigator's perilous skill checks, and got clicked for a buck and a card with Crystal Pendulum. At one point I knew I could get 4 resources in 2 actions for a big purchase, if I drew the big card I wanted. It pulled its weight. — MrWeasely · 42
Ethereal Slip

Played this in Undimensioned and Unseen 2P today, did absolute work corralling the Broods where we wanted them and less clunky than managing them from the Whately Ruins.

Highly recommended for that scenario!

Ethereal Slip

Amazing for Devil Reef in the Innsmouth cycle - especially on solo. So much ground to cover and if you can get this out a couple of times (even Painting It with Sefina Rousseau), boat-hopping becomes a little easier.
