What if Sister Mary did practice Martial Art in her convent?
I was trying to look at how a Lily Chen deck could potentially look like! Share your ideas in the comments!
This is a Deck that could be used by Lily Chen at the exception of Word of Command that is here to improve the reliability of your setup: filling your Arcane slots faster/Enchanting your Weapon faster.
Is still seems quite reliable for Sister Mary who would turn into a fighter that would compete with Mark Harrigan at similar XP, while also having a semi-reliable clue-gathering situation.
To try this deck before October 2021, we will need to Proxy Dragon Pole
Main Strategy:
Boost the Dragon Pole by having a lot of filled Arcane Slots and Enchanting it.
Arcane Slots Management:
Dragon Pole + Sign Magick + Familiar Spirit x1 gives you 5 total Arcane slots.
Here is how to use your Arcane Slots:
Rite of Sanctification first to decrease the price of all your other assets = 1st Slot
Dragon Pole + Enchant Weapon = 2nd Slot
Enchanted Blade+Enchant Weapon = 3rd + 4th Slots
Sixth Sense = 5th Slots
Clairvoyance instead of Rite of Sanctification as a 5th Slot.
Once fully set up, you are attacking each turn at 8 with your Dragon Pole without using any Ammo.
Good to know that Enchant Weapon is a Spell, so the extra slots of Sign Magick and Familiar Spirit can be used.
Boosting your to expert-friendly level:
The game breaking event here is Enchant Weapon giving one attack per turn at +6 and +1 Damage.
When you have it attached on both weapons [Enchanted Blade / Dragon Pole], you're a mad killer, with a potential of 8 damages each turn with 8 to 14 on your skill checks!
And if you are fighting that big scary boss, use Galvanize for an extra 3 damages attack at 14, netting 11 potential damages in one turn.
Yes, Galvanize finally has an amazing use!
Clueing:
Sixth Sense and Clairvoyance with a base skill of 6 including Guts for higher shrouds make you a decent cluever.
We prefer Clairvoyance because of the ridiculous high Sanity and the lesser chances to happen.
Money Management:
Rite of Sanctification will help to set up our many events and should be overused as this is a resource-heavy deck!
Uncage the Soul is like a Fast Emergency Cache that aims here at: Sign Magick, Enchant Weapon, Clairvoyance and Sixth Sense.
Upgrades:
Upgrading from level 0 as follows:
Holy Rosary (0) Holy Rosary (2)
Further Upgrades could include:
1) Relic Hunter and Hallowed Mirror for a more reliable generation via damaging/healing Guardian Angel;
2)Stick to the Plan, Backpack (2) for more reliability
3) Going with Nephthys x2 and Charisma.
4) Enchanted Blade (3) for a reliable card draw when killing enemies [and quite thematic].
Reflection on Lily's Deckbuilding:
With Lily Chen's and Discipline, a similar deck could be insane!
That experiment brings hope in the fact that The Edge of the Earth will be coming with fun ways to use all of the Arcane Slots made available lately with Sign Magick (3), The Hierophant • V, Dragon Pole, as well as the older ones: Familiar Spirit and Sign Magick.

Even though it is not useable by Lily but that could help in this one deck to turn a Rite of Sanctification with 1 on it into a good draw or to replace a Rite of Seeking that is used, if you have the second copy in your hand no to weaken your Dragon Pole. But the net benefit of this card is rather low: 1 action, 1 card for 3 draws, without counting the card and resources that need to be spent to replace it... |
Jul 16, 2021Sacrifice only discards mystic assets, so it couldn’t discard Rite of Sanctification. Guardian isn’t really a card draw faction, so an asset that draws cards for them would be a strange fit for the class. That being said, they have one of the best pseudo-draw assets in Stick to the Plan. And a sterling card draw event in Stand Together. That’s why the neutral skills (and their upgrades), Tempt Fate and any other card that replaces itself and thins your deck are always worth looking at. |
Hi, this looks like a fun deck, but I don't think Galvanise works on anything in the deck apart from Holy Rosary (2) and Rite of Sanctification. If you're looking to use it to ready Enchant Weapon, then you should know that Enchant Weapon (which is the card that gets exhausted by its effect) is an Event and not a Guardian Asset.
