Calvin Slayer concept. Not sure how well this will work.

Quick update: forgot to update taboo list. We'll need to buy Drawing Thin now. Still worth it. Going to put Take Heart here for now.

Use Drawing Thin to either power Fire Axe or search for what you need. Good combo for Calvin is Meat Cleaver with Peter Sylvestre and Smoking Pipe. Let's you balance horror/damage on yourself without too much risk, no requirement to heal if you don't want to.

Cornered should be an early upgrade, it turns any card in your hand into unexpected courage. Use Drawing Thin to search, and Cornered to succeed with cards that aren't useful at the moment.

With the extra card draw you're likely to draw your Voice of the Messenger a little more often, so if you dont want to be insane/killed by scenario 8 don't go looking for too much trauma. You should be able to find some damage and horror with monsters or Meat Cleaver easily enough.

Shoot for 2-3-ish Trauma on each stat before swapping out "I'll see you in hell!" and/or Ghastly Revelation. They're basically useless once you don't want more trauma.

Ended up dropping more clue capability than I originally intended. Was having to decide between leaving Calvin too weak to defend, too horrified to take much risk, etc.

I think it'll be alright. Gaining a bunch of clues with Ghastly Revelation early on swaps out for Will to Survive which can solve a lot of problems on it's own. Between that, Lucky!, "Look what I found!", Against All Odds and Cornered it shouldn't be too bad without a Lantern or Flashlight.

Later on after you find you don't need to balance too often with Smoking Pipe it might be a good idea to swap with Thermos.

Upgrade Priority:

Basics

  1. Take Heart -> Drawing Thin
  2. Fine Clothes -> Five of Pentacles
  3. Peter Sylvestre -> Peter Sylvestre
  4. Unexpected Courage -> Cornered

Developed

  1. "I'll see you in hell!" -> Against All Odds
  2. Ghastly Revelation -> Will to Survive
  3. Lucky! -> Lucky!
  4. Rise to the Occasion -> Rise to the Occasion
  5. Winging It -> Stroke of Luck / A Test of Will / Exiles of your choice.

I think we should be able to find space for Miss Doyle and Jessica Hyde but I'm still thinking on the best place for it.

I'm tempted to add Versatile, which would not only make the room for them but let me snag Deny Existence and either Lantern/Trial by Fire/Perseverance.
