Introduction
Created to accompany Tommy Muldoon through a Return to the Dunwich Legacy campaign, this Sefina deck was designed to pick up a larger share of the clue-getting while still being to manage her own enemies to some degree. As it developed, the deck relied on high resource generation to fuel expensive events, developing an ability to deploy a toolbox of options to different threats and challenges. Comments and advice welcome.
Key Cards
Assets
- Rite of Seeking and Flashlight -- back-up clue-getting to make up for Sefina's weak
- Holy Rosary -- boost Sefina's good-but-not-great , plus a little horror soak
- Fine Clothes -- mostly for the Parley tests in "The House Always Wins"
Events
- "I'm outta here!" -- almost entirely for "The House Always Wins," but it helped out in another scenario, and who hates double icons?
- Read the Signs -- solid clue-getting; a good target for The Painted World
- Intel Report -- very flexible clue-getting; got more useful as the economy cards came out. Another good target for The Painted World
- Quantum Flux -- Entirely as a hedge against the campaign's ridiculous amount of milling
- Emergency Cache -- Mostly a placeholder for better economy cards, but it's better than Voice of Ra with the campaign's relatively thin chaos bag.
- Investments -- added via Adaptable, sometimes 1 and sometimes 2, this proved a remarkably good card for building up late game funding for Small Favor and/or Intel Report when they had to be dragged out from under Sefina.
Skills
- Nimble -- helps Sefina get away from the enemies she's evading
Mulligan
This is a trick section! Sefina doesn't get to mulligan! One benefit of Sefina is that she can run more singleton events since her huge opening hand usually lets her find a couple of them. It's always great to get at least one The Painted World in your opening hand, along with at least one clue-getting event and one enemy-managing event.
Upgrades
Roughly in Order:
- 1 Adaptable -- This lets Sefina swap out some of the tech cards as the campaign advances. Things added: Small Favor, Investments, and moving around which Events would be singletons depending on the scenario. Investments was very good for a late-scenario resource boost to fuel critical Small Favor and Intel Report use.
- 2 Fine Clothes --> 2 Robes of Endless Night (2) -- After "The House Always Wins," reduced cost on spells is much better
- 1 Emergency Cache --> Hot Streak (2) --> Hot Streak (4) -- By the end of the scenario, the deck had a large enough starting resource pool that converting both Caches would have been nice, but Dunwich is so stingy with the XP, it did not happen.
- 2 Another Day, Another Dollar -- this was the source of the "large enough starting resource pool" 2 Arcane Initiate --> Delilah O'Rourke -- Once the
At this point, we are running out of XP and things to obviously upgrade. Other possibilities:
- Lola Santiago -- for more clue-getting and less killing than Delilah, or
- Charisma and take both!
- Streetwise (3+3) -- I would have liked this in the odd scenario where you aren't spending resources like water, but who has 6 XP to spare in Dunwich?
This is a good toolbox deck, best when paired with a fairly decent monster hunter. After a beat-down in "Undimensioned and Unseen," we were prepared for utter ruin in "Where Doom Awaits," but Sefina and Tommy pulled through and went the distance.
