This deck utilizes cards that grant additional arcane slots to turn Dragon Pole into a reliable +4 /+1 damage primary weapon and to charge some utility cards like Eldritch Initiation and Meditative Trance. Such cards are: the Dragon Pole itself, Familiar Spirit, Binder's Jar and, the most important, The Hierophant • V, which allows to fill arcane slots with accessories.

(1.24) Shifting Slots
Some card effects allow an investigator to put assets of one slot type into one of their other slots, allow one of an investigator’s slot types to carry assets of a different slot type, or cause assets to no longer take up slots. In such an event, the investigator must decide which slot is holding which asset at the moment it is played. This cannot be adjusted later unless the contents or quantity of the investigator’s slots changes, at which point the investigator may switch which slots are holding any of their assets.
It means, that if we have The Hierophant • V on the table, we should explicitly put all new spells and accessories into arcane slots (if any free left) and only then into accessory slots. Then, if we get a new arcane slot (e.g. play a card or place an enemy beneath Binder's Jar), we can move an asset from an accessory slot to the new arcane slot. If we play The Hierophant • V after we played some accessories, we can rearrange them to fill the arcane slots.
Spell assets can be any depending on the role and playstyle, but there should be 6-10 arcane slot assets in the deck to reliably fill the slots. It's the most xp-expensive part of the deck, hence the double Arcane Research. Spells from EotE are less synergetic with Akachi's +1 charge ability, but they are cheaper and we want to play a lot of spell assets to charge Dragon Pole.
Living Ink has +1 charge from Akachi's ability and can be replayed with Spirit-Speaker on its last turn before it discards itself. With Imbued Ink it takes an arcane slot instead of a body, which can be both advantage and disadvantage depending on the amount of other arcane slot assets.
Arcane Initiate is overused in mystics and I don't want to play it, but this deck really needs spells, so I have to.
Eldritch Initiation refills the hand if we have a bunch of irrelevant cards, but we need to decide what to discard. We usually don't need second Dragon Pole, late game Emergency Caches and some extra spells. Discarded spells can be played with Uncage the Soul (3).
Meditative Trance is good with many arcane slots and faster than Earthly Serenity, but Earthly Serenity fills a slot for Dragon Pole.
