Super Saiyan Calvin plays a deadly game of cards

I plan on using this deck as my first Calvin experience, during my first run-through Dream Eaters paired with Jacqueline Fine. Feel free to give your suggestions in the comments and to ♥ if you like the principle!

This deck is focused on the new release of Nine of Rods as a way for Calvin to boost himself and stay alive by choosing which Encounter cards he wants to play.

Main Strategy: Tarot

Anna Kaslow Brings the ability to play 3 tarot cards at once.

During the Mulligan, Anna Kaslow or Nine of Rods are our first targets.

With 2 copies of her and 3 Tarot cards, it shouldn't be uncommon to draw her along with 1 Tarot card in the opening hand. If so, we already saved 9 resources.

Nine of Rods will do 2 things:

• Curate encounter cards that will damage/horror you early on

• Cancel encounter cards that may kill you afterwards

Then 2 copies of Five of Pentacles bring you to potentially 7 at each skill. For safety measures, I will try to stay around 5 damages/horror as long as possible.

Find clues:

The classic stapplers of every flex :

"Look what I found!", Winging It and Sharp Vision will get most of the work done in a 2-player setup where most locations have at least 2 clues.

Perception is here for when there is 1 clue and helps to Scavenge

Fight:

Baseball Bat / Old Hunting Rifle are the main weapons, Old Hunting Rifle is #1, and is discarded when empty/jammed. Baseball Bat is the backup option before the riffle is drawn, or when it is jammed.

Scavenging (2) is amazing to recur the broken weapons, and shouldn't be a problem, especially late game and with all the Investigation help.

Get stuff done while we get bruised:

The new version of Trial by Fire is perfect: cheaper, it also allows to excel in one stat if the plan is to spend a whole turn Investigating/fighting.

"Look what I found!" helps cleaning low shroud places before having a single horror on Calvin.

Rise to the Occasion also helps to do small tasks with good chances early on.

How to survive the Super Saiyan transformation:

We made it, Calvin is really low on health/sanity, and now we plan on maintaining this state as long as possible.

Perseverance of course, is the safety net, in case it is used it already too much, recurring it is the best thing to do.

Nightmare Bauble prevents the on a treachery/retaliate enemy to kill Calvin down. 1 copy means that it can arrive a little bit late in your scenario. But it doesn't matter as it's exactly when you are scared of the . Early on, it may mean a lot of boost on your favourite Encounter card.

Fine Clothes are important, because, with all the hits he gets, he needs a new outfit on a regular basis. Bonus on Parley is always nice, and it soaks both damages and/or horror and can be Scavenged at any point to gain action.

The experience was traumatising?

Early in the campaign, Ghastly Revelations is the best way to get mental trauma at the very end of each scenario.

Mental Trauma is better than Physical one, because we need a high ASAP in early scenarios, to get clues before enemies come. When engaged with a foe, keeping on investigating is the best way to boost the stats while getting the work done.

Then, let's enjoy the ride.

If we have enough traumas, I would recommend 2 copies of Drawing Thin instead of Trial by Fire to manage the difficulty of a test just enough to guarantee a pass while being having a draw/cash engine.
