Call me crazy, but if a gal can play any level 3 or lower card in the game, shouldn't she just throw in some of the most powerful combos in the game and call it a day? So there you have it.
a) Summoned hound + chance encounter (2) - If you've played Charlie you know what I'm talking about. 1-2 free fights or investigates a turn at 5 skill are nothing to complain about.
b) Grisly Totem + Drawing Thin + Take Heart. - Ah... a story as old as Cthulhu himself. You fail a test, draw two cards, gain 4 resources and then do it all again next turn. Cause why not?
c) Dragon Pole + Enchant Weapon. - Don't laugh at a 3 damage attack with a +5 boost to your skill every turn. It can do some serious work. And you're not even the team's actual fighter. You're just a flexy actress.
And then there's all the randomly super powerful cards in the game like spectral razor, disguise, easy mark etc etc. Personally I'm a huge fan of Cat Burglar. Obviously you can replace it with any ally that suits your fancy but being able to just let monsters talk to the hand and be on you merry way is a flexibility choice I find too indulging. Just because you can do anything doesn't mean you should sweat it. An actress needs her freedom.
Now I can already hear the sirens' whining. "Oh you're playing without taboo blah blah blah..." First of all, I don't believe in the taboo list. Now this is a much bigger discussion but as far as I'm concerned, if it's not printed on the card, I don't care. I'm not obligated to search the internet for changes on cards just because FFG employees decided to have a meltdown and change all the cards they made. Playtest better next time. I make an exception for actual errata like curse and bless tokens being included in cards that work for symbols revealed, since those tokens didn't exist when the cards were printed and it makes complete sense to include them.
That said, if the 7 extra XP for drawing thin and pathfinder mean that much to you feel free to add them. But remember, I'm playing without Lola's buffs either.
