1) Shoot the bad guys in the face.
2) You need a gun to do the shooting. Mulligan for a .45 or at least a Prepared for the Worst.
3) Once you have a gun out, you can start upgrading it, preferably beginning with Custom Modifications to get some extra card draw going. Try and make sure you have Well-Maintained attached before you run out of ammo. Hopefully by then you'll also have your second gun.
