MEATOMANCER MONTY

Solo || Monty deck that uses Monterey Jack's ability to find cursed relics, namely the incredibly synergistic Prismatic Spectacles and Rod of Carnamagos.

Plus free Eon Charts, an easy Pendant of the Queen, and some other fun relics and charms!

ENEMY MANAGEMENT

Enemy management is mostly accomplished via evasion and Rod of Carnamagos. In sccenarios where small maps make evasion inefficient or killing elites is critical, Hyperphysical Shotcaster allows for attacking with agility and Trusty Bullwhip does good work. We're playing Shotcaster over British Bull Dog because it's a relic.

CLUE ACQUISITION

Monty's got decent base , but Prismatic Spectacles lets him reliably investigate at 6. With help from Fox Mask and Dream Diary, he should be able to crack most shrouds.

ECONOMY AND DRAW

Deep Knowledge and Faustian Bargain provide excellent consistency, and Lucky Cigarette Case is a charm! Monty's elder sign also provides a surprising amount of resources over the course of a scenario, but it's not super reliable.

ACTION COMPRESSION

Eon Chart is fantastic here, and Spectacles + Favor of the Moon provides clue compression. You can use the Rod to dig for curses if you're up-to-date on your weird rules. Lola Santiago is also fantastic in this deck if you have the XP, but I've found that she's not an essential upgrade.

TREACHERY MITIGATION

In order to cover for Monty's pathetic , we play Dr. William T. Maleson, Say Your Prayers, and Dream Diary. Hyperphysical Shotcaster's "Realitycollapser" form can also provide useful protection from Frozen in Fear and similar cards if necessary.

LEVEL ZERO

The level zero version of this deck (represented by the side deck) goes a little lighter on the curse theme, playing more traditional rogue cards like Lockpicks and Thieves' Kit.

If you take In the Thick of It, I recommend spending your first 3 XP on Eon Charts and Segments of Onyx to increase the functionality of Monty’s ability. Other than those, the most critical upgrades for this deck are:

OTHER NOTES

Get Occult Reliquary/Relic Hunter early. You'll need it.

DO NOT PLAY THIS DECK IN MULTIPLAYER. Your friends will have a bad time if they're not prepared for a very hostile chaos bag.

Nice deck, looks fun! You say don't use this multiplayer but I think it works well enough two-player - just take a Mystic with Ritual Candles, Armageddon, Eye of Chaos and maybe Wicked Athame (if using a second, proxied Occult Reliquary). I think what people forget about Rod of Carnamagos is that it doesn't have to sit on a curse Mystic directly, Jack here can activate this in the window of their tests. Investigators like Luke can also take Blasphemous Covenant, which gives you time to find and play Ritual Candles.

Diabolical Luck would be my only suggestion here for the final deck - I can see it's already on the side deck but I think it's good enough to retain into your fully upgraded deck (especially with False Covenant being your main other way to offset curses, with a little of Dream Diary as well). Anyway, this is good stuff - I wouldn't have thought about Parallel Jack for a curse deck myself but it makes perfect sense!

You're right, you could definitely use this in multiplayer alongside an investigator that can mitigate the drawback of curses. Takes some coordination when deckbuilding, but it sounds like fun.

I've played this deck through a couple campaigns at this point, and I found that False Covenant was usually enough to deal with a bag full of curses, so I cut Diabolical Luck from the upgraded deck. It's definitely in the level 0 version, though, and it's usually one of the last cards I swap out.

Anyway, thanks for the comment! Glad you like the deck!
