At first glance Kymani seems like an interesting investigator but when I played them during Return To The Forgotten Age as the fighter in the group, I realized they are a lesser version of many other better investigators. They even start with extra 5xp because they are weaker compared to other rogue investigators.

As I see it they are only good for this campaign do to the vengeance mechanic throughout the campaign. Sometimes you don't want to kill the enemies (most times actually) but just get rid of them by discarding them. Discarding them via their mechanic does not defeat them so any card that rewards you for defeating enemies is useless on them. That is my first issue with this investigator while the second one is their Grappling Hook. That item lets you spend two actions to gain three different ones. You would think "cool that's saving me actions" but how many times do you need to engage, evade and move. The whole point of this investigator is to evade twice and discard the enemy which you can't do with the Grappling Hook! The other problem with their signature card is the 'basic actions' which means you can't use these actions from cards (i.e. you can't use breaking and entering to investigate with the Grappling Hook). That's why I started the game with Ornate Bow as this was my main source of damage because sometimes you want to kill enemies (for xp) or set themn low enough for you signature move.

My third issue with them is their deck building option to select tool cards but if you search all the tool cards there are, it's quite disappointing. There are a few that might work with them like Riot Whistle that lets you engage for free and sometimes you do need it. Other tools could be Ice Pick or Sledgehammer but I went for Ornate Bow which works great with her.

Kymani are very action hungry when trying to use their signature move since you need two evade actions (even for the weakest enemy) so to deal with that one of the first cards you need to upgrade to is Stealth and I can't emphasize that enough. That and Trench Coat should be top priority as giving you a free bonues to evade is very good. Trench Coat also works well when attaching Hidden Pocket to it because I wasnted to play Pocket Multi Tool and since Ornate Bow is double handed, you need a way to add an extra hand slot. Since Pocket Multi Tool isn't illicit, that's where "I'll take that!" comes in hand. After you evade a humanoid which is what you're supposed to do you can turn the Pocket Multi Tool to an illicit item and attach it to Trench Coat with Hidden Pocket. The setup for that isn't easy but it is worth it and that was the only tool item I found interesting playing.

So technically all you do is go around and evade thing, but you are really really good at it! Gené Beauregard is really good to add when you can because she adds one to each of the skills you need to discard an enemy. Playing with her and Trench Coat puts you at 7 agility for evading and 10 for discarding them! Add in the -2 from Stealth (which should be applied on the second evade) then it's quite easy.

If you are in the need of helping the team with investigating I would suggest adding Breaking and Entering instead of one of the other damage cards you have or even Old Keyring as it is a tool card (yay another one Kymani can use).

Since evading is your bread and butter, Pickpocketing is a must and the upgraded version will probably always grant you both perks. If you have extra xp and basicaly just want a boost of agility, take The Moon • XVIII but that will make the investigator very boring since the only cards they will likely use is the Ornate Bow and Pocket Multi Tool.
