Introduction
My first time playing Finn in my first serious run at Innsmouth, partnered with Silas. Difficulty is Standard. Finn is expected to be pretty balanced, with slightly more clue-getting than enemy management and more evading than fighting, but able to do a bit of everything. Thanks to a bunch of people on the DttF Discord (esp. Dai, Andy B, and Monotone), further comments or suggestions welcome.
Key Cards
I think everything is fairly self-evident, but Leather Jacket + Lonnie Ritter are meant to be a bit of horror and damage healing, the Lucky Cigarette Case and Pickpocketing should keep the draw coming, and Nimble and Track Shoes should help navigate the larger maps.
Upgrades
Definite
- .18 Derringer (2) so much better than level 0
- Lockpicks so much better than level 0
- Pickpocketing (2) so much better than level 0
Probable
- Lucky Cigarette Case (3) good for filtering draw
- Slip Away (2) handy for keeping enemies exhausted, and Finn should be able to make the "succeed by" limits
- Another Day, Another Dollar useful for set up.
At 26 XP, that seems like it will take up most of the campaign's allotment.
Maybe
- Lola Santiago -- the static boosts are great; this deck might be a little resource lean for her special ability
- Charisma -- for both Lonnie and Lola
- Hot Streak (2) -- to build up that economy for things like Lola
- Charon's Obol -- I could use the extra XP, but I am not clear on the difficulty of the scenarios, so that might be foolhardiness.
- The Skeleton Key -- useful, but not necessary, and a little fiddly. I feel that Lockpicking at 8 should get past most shrouds.
- Tennessee Sour Mash -- The +3 is attracive, but trying to shore up Finn's is a mug's game. On the other hand, it's very thematic if Finn and Silas can bond over their love for fine hooch.
- Sharpshooter -- very on the fence about this one. I feel like I need to get a better look at the Evade vs Fight values of the encounter sets.
Other options will, no doubt, come to mind as I see what threats Innsmouth has to offer.
That is an awesome approach to Finn using Winni's and Stella's starter decks! Thank you, can't wait to try it.
