Okay. So I don't normally do denser write-ups, and I have some bad habits. All that said, Matteo is a personal favorite of mine. in particular, I find him interesting for his ability to achieve higher design consistency than normal Mystics.
He also resists one of the quirky problems driven by our favorite trauma bomb, Arcane Research. Because he can't get discounts from it on the base exp, he's virtually forced to take weird stuff! Wweeeeirrrrrd stuff.
Your first buy out of the gate here is going to be the excellent Blood Pact. Honestly, you could swap it for Shards and start with it. There's a lot to be said for it.

Sep 05, 2019Arcane Research doesn't go into effect until after a scenario, unfortunately. This means that you probably don't want to spend the base 5 exp he gets on something you'd rather buy at a discount. |
Sep 05, 2019Okay, cool, thanks. Any other weird stuff suggestions for upgrade or basically mostly the spells? |
Sep 05, 2019Shards actually offers him a surprising amount of consistency, especially as you level into token control. The other thing is: don't be afraid to crack his once-per-game early. The tempo gain from it is enormous and it's actually almost always a good time to use it. |
Sep 05, 2019Oh, in terms of Weird Shit tho, I think Eucatastrophe is a great example. |
Sep 10, 2019Enjoying your deck a lot, so thank you for that. But I had a question involving De Vermis Mysteriis. Am I right if this only works now with drawn to the flame and moonlight ritual? |
Sep 10, 2019At the moment, though upgrading into some of the other spell events is a good idea. Unfortunately, I forgot at the time about the timing issue with WoP and its kin. |
"Because he can't get discounts from it on the base exp, he's virtually forced to take weird stuff!" Hey Unthinkable, I can't seem to get what you are saying here. Why can't he get discounts from it?
